Musings No.7

So I wanted to share some things that I’ve already shared on Instagram… and also elaborate on them because some times you can only put so much in an insta caption before people just don’t care anymore, right? I mean at least on my own blog, y’all just expect me to go on and on and on. Or at least I hope you do!

And maybe you don’t see my instagram posts because you don’t follow me on there… or because instagram has that stupid algorithm now so nobody sees anything these days.

Either way, now you’ll see them. And with links for things featured in it, so even better!

I am a brand ambassador for thegamedaychic.com and they have the most amazing shirts and caps for any and all game days! Baseball, college football, NFL, they’re all perfect! Even better, if you use the code MorganP15, you can get 15% off your order!

Musings No. 6 | Friday Favorites

watching: In the last couple months, I’ve binged three different shows: The Bold Type, Younger, Brooklyn 99. I’m terrible at describing shows but I would say The Bold Type and Younger are more toned down versions of Sex in the City (I’ve only seen just a few episodes here and there of that so maybe it’s not the best description but that’s what I’m going with!) All three shows are on Hulu and Brooklyn 99 comes back next week!

rediscovered: Kristen Ess hair care I use the texture spray all the time! It’s perfect after curling your hair because it makes it more undone, which is what I prefer. The dry shampoo is the best one I’ve tried. I used the leave-in conditioner and the serum all the time a few months ago, took a break from it to try other things, and now I’m back to it. The serum is great after curls as well, if you feel like your hair is looking a little dry at the ends (me always!) and then spraying it with the texture spray and you’re good to go!

Printed

I am so excited to share this post with y’all! A few weeks ago, I talked about my love of photography and that I loved looking through old photos and slides that my grandpa took. The one thing I hate about the digital age is I don’t feel obligated to print photos. And if I don’t print them, I only look at them long enough to post on Instagram or to put on an external hard drive.

I think the last time I printed photos was a few years ago for a collage I made but it was disappointing because some photos didn’t print in the right direction or the color was off. With being able to edit photos and crop them in somewhat “abnormal” sizes, they don’t always print how you see them, they’re zoomed in to fit the print. (Am I making sense here?!)

My Grandpa

Eight years ago today, my grandpa passed away. I never planned to write about this post but last night it hit me how much of an effect he had on my life even though he only got to be here for a small part of it.

When I was in fourth grade, he had a stroke and from then until my third day of ninth grade, he stayed in a nursing home because the stroke paralyzed his left side. A majority of my memories of my Grandpa are from those years. Going to church with him on Sundays, talking about my middle school choir concerts, playing wii bowling when we had a wheel chair accessible van so he could come home on holidays.

A lot of my happy memories are from before then too.

Playlist No. 1

I love listening to music and finding new music. Often times when I do, I listen to it over and over and over until I’m absolutely sure I’m sick of it. I decided every couple of months to share some of my favorite songs.

Most of the time I find songs I hear in TV shows and movies and occasionally the Spotify Discover Weekly playlist really gets it right and I find a lot of songs that way. You’ll probably notice, I tend to listen to a mix of different types of music and I definitely go back and forth between upbeat and slow/sad songs. Pretty much any song that makes me picture a scene in a movie, happy or sad, I’m going to love.

Some of these are more recent favorites that I can’t stop listening to and others are long time loves!

(Clicking on the song will take you to a spotify link to listen!)

What to Watch on Netflix + Amazon Prime

As bad as it is, most of my free time is spent browsing through Netflix but since it’s summer it’s really not that bad right? Totally acceptable! And since it is the All-Star break for MLB, there’s nothing for me to watch until Friday. So I figured I would share some of my favorite shows, movies, and documentaries in case y’all were looking for something new to watch! These aren’t all of my favorites, we would be here forever, but I tried to pick ones that I’ve watched multiple times and deserve some more love.

p.s. I’ll more than likely call every one of these “my all time favorite” but that’s because I really do love all of these and I have trouble picking favorites. Like when you’re a kid and have all your stuffed animals on your bed because you don’t want them to be lonely.

DOCUMENTARIES

Documentaries are some of my favorite things to watch, especially about events that I know very little about or have only heard about in passing. These are my favorite because they’re very well put together and you get a lot of information very quickly. They aren’t boring and drawn out and they really make you think.

Found this photo while digging through my external hard drive, it’s too pretty not to post

LATELY

listening to:  I’ve been obsessed with Harry Styles’s new album. I was never a One Direction fan so I feel like my opinion is on this is a very fair an unbiased one, you need to listen to it. I listened to it on Spotify, loved it so much that I bought the CD so I could listen to it on my drive to class. It’s been playing non-stop

reading: I’ve been terrible about reading lately. I started 10 weeks of summer classes so I’ve been extremely lazy. I’m still working on  Now I Can Die in Peace by Bill Simmons... which I started in April.

watching: It’s been non-stop baseball for the most part. I re-watched  Newsroom for the millionth time. I’m obsessed with that series. So much so I bought it on BluRay so I could watch all the behind the scenes and commentary episodes.

snacking: Because I’ve been waking up earlier for my  8 a.m. classes, I feel like I’ve been snacking a lot more throughout the day. Recently discovered  Boom Chicka Pop cheddar popcorn and it’s seriously the most addicting snack ever. I’ve also been loving the Chobani greek yogurt drinks. Since I commute, it makes for an easy breakfast. I like the mixed berry but my favorite flavor is the Apple Veg.

loving: Shea Moisture blow dry cream, this stuff smells amazing and leaves my hair so smooth and soft. Makes blow drying with a round brush a breeze.

wearing: I’ve been wearing these Old Navy sandals nonstop. They’re comfy, look good with everything, and come in a bunch of different colors and patterns.

Here’s to the beginners

It’s only been a week and a half but it feels like it’s been over a month since I posted.  I started my first of two five week 8 a.m. summer classes this week and I feel like all I’ve done is wake up at 6 a.m., drive to campus, spend two hours in class, drive home, and sleep.  And that’s all I’ve wanted to do.

I’ve had four blog posts sitting in my drafts just waiting to be written. But for some reason I couldn’t make myself sit down and write them. I thought about them, on multiple occasions. On that 40 minute drive from campus at 10 a.m. every day I’ve had the thought “I can get home, have plenty of time to write and be productive, I can get so much done!” And then nothing.

listening to:  Big Little Lies soundtrack, The Aventine album by Agnes Obel (who I found because of the Big Little Lies soundtrack) has been my go to when studying or writing lately. When I want to listen to music but not music I’ll get distracted to. It really makes me want to learn piano!

reading: Since the semester is winding down and most of my big assignments have been turned in, I finally started reading a book I got for Christmas, Now I Can Die in Peace by Bill Simmons. If you’re a fan of the Four Days in October 30 for 30 on Netflix, this book is for you!

2017 Goals || March Update

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I totally had this planned to go up earlier this week but school has been crazy. So much was due this week and I’ve been swamped!

I’m excited for this update because February-March was really good for accomplishing my goals.  Especially the ones that I didn’t do much with in January.

2017 Goals

January Update

1. Watching more baseball and more photography went together especially in March.  My best friend and I went to the Rangers ballpark to watch Texas Tech play UT Arlington so I took my camera and I was so happy I did because the sunset that night was gorgeous.
